Biography

● Mohamed Fassy Mohamed Nasreen is a dedicated peacebuilder, human rights activist , and strategist with over a decade of experience in youth development, reconciliation, and social justice. As the Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Youth and Social Development (CEYSD), he has been instrumental in fostering pluralism, democracy, and community resilience across Sri Lanka. Nasreen’s journey in activism began with volunteering in the Muslim community, addressing gender issues and cultural barriers. Over time, his work expanded to national reconciliation efforts, engaging Sinhala, Tamil, and marginalized communities to bridge divides and promote coexistence. His expertise spans peacebuilding, human rights, governance, and digital safety, making him a sought-after trainer, researcher, and policy advocate. With a strong background in grassroots advocacy, Nasreen has conducted over 100 training programs on peace and reconciliation, democracy, online safety, youth participation, and gender advocacy. He has worked extensively with government institutions, civil society organizations, and international bodies, influencing policy dialogues and strategic interventions to drive meaningful change. Beyond training and advocacy, Nasreen is actively involved in research and content development, contributing to policy papers, training modules, and innovative digital awareness campaigns. He has played a key role in election monitoring, community-driven advocacy, and social innovation initiatives aimed at empowering youth and marginalized communities. Recognized for his efforts, Nasreen was honored as a UNV Peacemaker in 2018, a testament to his commitment to conflict resolution and sustainable peacebuilding. Under his leadership, CEYSD has grown into a dynamic youth-led movement, fostering inclusive dialogue, civic engagement, and grassroots activism for a more just and democratic society. Driven by a passion for change, risk-taking, and creative problem-solving, Nasreen continues to champion social justice, youth empowerment, and policy transformation at both local and national levels.

● Training & Capacity Building With over eight years of experience, Nasreen has conducted 100+ training sessions across Sri Lanka, focusing on peace and reconciliation, democracy, youth participation, gender advocacy, online safety, and pluralism. His training programs have empowered young leaders, civil society actors, and grassroots communities to engage in peacebuilding and social activism effectively. Advocacy & Grassroots Impact Nasreen has been at the forefront of gender rights advocacy, democratic participation, and conflict resolution. He has led initiatives addressing gender-based violence, political representation, and youth engagement in governance. His work has contributed to policy dialogues and social change efforts aimed at fostering inclusive and peaceful communities. Research & Content Development As a researcher and supervisor, Nasreen has contributed to policy research, training module development, and strategic reports that influence decision-making processes. His expertise in visual content creation and storytelling has helped create impactful awareness campaigns and advocacy tools to address pressing social issues. Organizational Leadership & Innovation As the Founder and Executive Director of CEYSD, Nasreen has expanded the organization’s reach, transforming it into a youth-driven movement for peace and development. Lasun Amaljith

Biography

● Bope Gamage Lasun Amaljith is a dedicated professional in media management and national integration, with over a decade of experience in reconciliation and community engagement. Since April 20, 2015, he has served as a National Integration Coordinator at the Ambanpola Divisional Secretariat, working on initiatives that promote social cohesion and unity. Lasun holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Information Technology and has been actively involved in peacebuilding efforts. As a member of UN - Youth 4 Peace (2018) and the Youth 4 Peace Advocacy Program, he has contributed to youth-led initiatives for reconciliation. He was also trained as a facilitator under ONUR (Office for National Unity and Reconciliation). Currently, he serves as the Media and Communications Director at CEYSD, where he leads media outreach, digital content creation, and public relations strategies to enhance the organization’s impact in peace and reconciliation efforts.

She actively contributes to governance, peacebuilding, and public health initiatives through various training programs. ● Mohamed Mathloob Rifna is a finance professional with extensive experience in financial management, IT, and education. She has been serving as the Director of Finance at CEYSD since 2016, overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, and grant management to ensure the organization's financial sustainability and compliance. Rifna holds an Advanced Level (A/L) in Mathematics, along with a Diploma in Information and Communication Technology and a Diploma in English from the British Way English Academy. Her expertise extends to Internet and E-commerce, financial document management, and data handling. With a strong background in both the education and corporate sectors, Rifna previously worked as a teacher at Matara Ilma College (2012–2014) and Sunday School (2006–2014). Additionally, she served as an IT Executive at House of Hidayath Department Stores (2010–2014) and a Data Entry Operator at the Humanitarian Development Association (2009–2010). Beyond her professional work, she is passionate about women’s empowerment, problem-solving in mathematics, and volunteering for social causes, making her a valuable advocate for vulnerable women and marginalized communities
