What is CEYSD?

Center for youth and social development(CEYSD) in a non-profit organization which was formed in 2014 as a collective of Sinhala, Muslim and Tamil members with the support of Center for Social Change (CSC) under the project of building resilient communities. CEYSD is committed to promote social cohesion among diverse communities and development in the country through the enhancement of knowledge and awareness. Additionally, CEYSD facilitates formulating religious, cultural, and national programs that include all ethnicities and religious groups of the country.

What we do?

We have been running peace building initiatives with various community groups from Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim ethnicities. These include comics and cartoon workshops, cultural programs to build ethnic cohesion through understanding differences, public campaigns to counter religious extremism, Environmental issues and educating religious leaders on Human Rights approaches to peace building, organizing school art competitions on co-existence, establishing social cohesion committees in schools, awareness building on social cohesion through short films.
